Distillery Tours - Esseterre

Basing operations in Dobrich, Bulgaria, was strategic for doTERRA to continually pursue what’s pure. The Esseterre distillery is centrally located near lavender and melissa farms that supply raw materials for distillation.

Since 2016, Esseterre has been the main source for several doTERRA essential oils, including Lavender, Melissa, Yarrow, and Summer Savory. Essterre is also where frankincense and myrrh resins are distilled.

About Esseterre

The Esseterre distillery was established by doTERRA in Dobrich, Bulgaria, in 2015 to produce Lavender and Melissa essential oils. Since opening the first distillation area in June 2016, Esseterre has continuously evolved, increasing its production capacity and number of employees.

Esseterre obtains essential oil crops from long-term partnerships with local farmers and imported raw materials like frankincense and myrrh resins. The distillery even has a dedicated production line for blue oils such as Yarrow.

Distillation occurs all year, based on harvesting seasons. The team and technical equipment are all Bulgarian. In fact, Esseterre is one of the few distilleries in the country with its own laboratory and research team.

Esseterre constantly invests in its essential oil production, including technical equipment, qualified professionals, modern laboratory facilities, and agricultural research fields.
